The Continuing Adventures of SuperPreemie

Shoshanna’s Athletic Niche

Posted on: January 30, 2011

We have found it, and it is apparently anything that involves strapping skates to your feet.  She has been begging us to take her ice skating for even longer than she begged for roller skates, and we had just never gotten around to it because of the skate rental and the cold and the what if she freaks out or decides she doesn’t like it after five minutes, etc.

Today, though, we went over to Jordan’s house, where there is a small backyard rink.  And a pair of skates that more or less fit Shoshanna (they were a titch too small, but that’s better than too big).  I had promised her I would skate with her and by the time I got my skates on (for the first time in about 10 years, I realized), I think she had made it around the rink three times.  Within the first half hour, I heard, “Look Mom!  I can jump!”  All told she probably skated for about an hour – the longest of any of the little kids – and she LOVED it.  So… I foresee more ice skating in our future.
