The Continuing Adventures of SuperPreemie

We have verticality!

Posted on: October 23, 2005

Shoshanna’s pulling up is no longer limited to things like me and the open dishwasher – she’ll stand up on anything she can get her hands on top of and that will support her weight. On top of that, she spent the whole weekend really WANTING to be standing up – she’d get quite mad if she WASN’T standing. Of course, she’s also not yet too good at getting down from standing, so she’ll also get mad if she’s standing up and she wants to sit down. In order to communicate this frustration, she’s developed a new kind of screechy cry that only gets used in frustrated situations. It’s cute, and it’s also useful because you know pretty clearly what she’s unhappy about when you hear it.

We also had brunch at our favorite local diner this morning, and Shoshanna contentedly chowed down on bits of my pancakes and scrambled eggs, and then when she ran out of the food I’d set aside for her (and most of it did go into her mouth rather than onto the floor) she tried to steal my plate to get at what I was eating. Fortunately we always carry an emergency supply of cheerios, although most of those DID land on the floor (food, toy… what’s the difference?).
