Lots of visitors and bottles

Shoshanna got to meet her Great-Uncle Richard and her Great-Aunt Yvette today. She of course slept peacefully through these visits and was declared to be “darling”. She also took five whole bottles in a row! This is a major accomplishment – she had bottles at 6, 9, 12, 3, and 6. And two of them were parent-given bottles. We’ll see tomorrow if the pattern continued. Matthew even managed to wake her up for her 3 pm bottle; when I went in to give her the 6 pm bottle she was half awake (she’d just gotten a shot – one of her vacceines- a little bit before) and sucking on her blanket, which is a pretty good sign that she’s getting hungry but not yet hungry enough to be really upset about it – the perfect time for her to eat! So we took her out and she chowed down. She actully tried to chow down a little too fast at first and choked on her milk, so I took the bottle away and let her recover and she was just fine after that. I was impressed that she didn’t desat at all while she was choking on her milk. Her nurse declared that if she pulled her NG tube before it expires tomorrow afternoon, she wouldn’t put it back.

Other than that, she had a pretty quiet day – she’s adjusting to the world without caffeine or diuretics; she’s had roughly her normal number of ABDs, but nothing to be worried about – everything she’s doing has been declared to be “developmentally normal.” Yet another nurse was impressed with how mellow we are about the alarms – I can’t get worried when the heart monitor sayd she’s got a hearbeat of
