The Continuing Adventures of SuperPreemie

Holding a tiny, tiny baby…

Posted on: October 7, 2004

We had been misinformed about the minimum weight for Kangaroo Care. It’s 700 grams. What does this mean, you ask? It means that Matthew and I each got to hold our daugher for roughly half an hour on the evening of 10/7. Additionally, Shoshanna was extubated at 12:30 pm on 10/7 and was doing much better on the CPAP (which delivers oxygen and constant air pressure to her lungs but doesn’t do any of the work of breathing for her) than she had been on the respirator. Matthew also narrowly escaped another epic poo – she let loose with some very entertaining body noises as the nurses were moving her back to her incubator after he’d been holding her.
