Yesterday at dinner Shoshanna was merrily telling us about going to the school library and checking out a book (Ezra Jack Keats’ The Trip, for those playing along at home) when suddenly, her face fell. She completely crumbled. As enormous tears started rolling, she managed to choke out, “I forgot to get it scanned!”

The first day of kindergarten went very well… Shoshanna can’t wait to go back tomorrow. They had music class and art time – they started painting rainbow fish to hang from the ceiling of their classroom. She loved riding the bus and has declared that she wants to stay “on green” (good behavior) [...]

We had a very big day today. This morning was kindergarten registration, and then we went straight from there to one of our favorite SCA events, which is a demo and renaissance faire at the Herschell Carrousel Museum.

We’ve known this unofficially for a couple of weeks, but the paper confirmation came today. Shoshanna got into the gifted & talented magnet school for kindergarten next year. We are thrilled, of course. But because this process can’t be easy even one step of the way, there is one and only one day for kindergarten [...]

The choices have been made, the paperwork has been mailed. Shoshanna’s name is officially in the lottery for entry into kindergarten next year. We ranked the G&T elementary school as our first choice, and she’ll go through their battery of tests (which I believe include an IQ test as well as evaluation by a school [...]
