That sound? That’s the other shoe dropping.
Fortunately it’s a very little shoe. A Shoshanna-sized shoe, even.
We have been keeping an eye on Shoshanna’s gross motor development for a while, and noting that her left side still lags significantly behind her right, and that there is noticeably less muscle mass in her left calf than in [...]

Our March for Babies was Sunday morning, the 27th of April. The weather Saturday afternoon was moderately crappy (we went to the Aquarium at Niagara), but the weather folks had promised us good weather for Sunday, and boy were they right! It was bright & sunny and topped out around 65 degrees. [...]

Three years ago today, we were in the hospital for a swallow/sleep study – the one that got us off of both Reglan and supplemental O2. (New preemie parents reading this: do NOT let pulmo and GI decide to d/c both a motility drug and supplemental O2 at the same time… S’s little belly filled [...]

If it’s the new year, it must be time to start ramping up for WalkAmerica. Except it’s not called WalkAmerica anymore – it’s now the March for Babies. This year our walk is on the 27th of April – as in the past two years, we’d love to have anyone who wants to come and [...]

So the March of Dimes is doing a project called “Every Baby Has a Story”, creating a sort of digital scrapbook for all babies – preemies and full termers, sick babies and healthy ones. I’ve got the beginnings of a “scrapblog” up for our very own superpreemie and will add to it as [...]

Yeah, I’m a couple of days late. Tuesday was a pleasant, kinda lazy day at home (Shoshanna is home from preschool one day a week, and it just happened that her birthday fell on a Tuesday). As I told Matthew, we played with playdough, finger painted, baked a cake, played outside, read books, [...]

Since we’d had some concerns about Shoshanna’s gross motor development, we made an appointment for an extra well-child visit at 2 1/2. So this morning we all trooped off to the doctor’s office. Conveniently, last time we were at the library, Shoshanna picked up Corduroy Goes to the Doctor and we’ve read it [...]

Not that we keep a list, but it’s always nice when another doctor says that they only want to see Shoshanna on an “as needed” basis. Today she was discharged from GI – she’s been off of reflux meds for four months with no problems. Check that one off the list. We [...]

Yesterday was Shoshanna’s “second first birthday” – one year after her original due date. We didn’t do anything exciting to mark the date, but I thought it would be fun to take some new pictures with our old friend Pickles.
First, let’s review…
October 4, 2004 (9 days old):
November 19, 2004 (just under 2 months old):
March 13, [...]

We’ve known for a long time that Shoshanna was going to be approved for Synagis (the RSV vaccine) this year. When we got the official approval from the insurance company for five doses (November through March), I made the appointment for her first shots (she’s big enough now – twenty pounds and one ounce [...]
