The milestones we mark…

Posted by: Sarah on: December 16, 2007

This morning as we were all lazing around in bed, Shoshanna made her first pun.  Matthew was patting her on the stomach and she said,
“Daddy, don’t pat me.  You’re not Miss Patty!”  (Miss Patty is one of her teachers.)
We are so very proud.

The letter between X and Z

Posted by: Sarah on: November 21, 2007

We have reached That Age.  You know, the one where you have the kid who asks “why” continuously.  All day.  Every day.  And we didn’t approach that milestone slowly.  No, I don’t think I’d heard Shoshanna ask “why” more than three times before Monday afternoon.  But on the way home from school on Monday, we [...]

It’s D-day…

Posted by: Sarah on: February 20, 2006

“W-Day” is probably the better term for it. Shoshanna took her first unsupported steps this weekend – she can only do 2 or so at a time before it turns into a very slightly controlled fall, but it’s steps. Here’s a little movie of her attempts; it’s about 2 minutes long.

Checking things off of the list…

Posted by: Sarah on: January 23, 2006

Not that we keep a list, but it’s always nice when another doctor says that they only want to see Shoshanna on an “as needed” basis. Today she was discharged from GI – she’s been off of reflux meds for four months with no problems. Check that one off the list. We [...]

Various and sundry

Shoshanna has had a COGNITIVE EXPLOSION! Her communicative skills have improved by leaps and bounds over the past couple of weeks – she’s learned to point to ask for things that she wants, which has its pluses and its minuses (plus: we can give her what she wants to eat. minus: we know [...]

first day of daycare!

Posted by: Sarah on: September 13, 2005

Shoshanna had a lovely first day of daycare. She wasn’t happy the whole day, I’m sure, but she was happy when I left and happy when I picked her up, so it can’t have been all bad. She’s going to have to learn to nap there (she doesn’t like to nap when there [...]

On the growth of Super-Preemie

Posted by: Sarah on: August 27, 2005

A couple of weeks ago, I realized that one of Shoshanna’s dolls is just about the same size that she was at birth. I haven’t put it on the scale, so I can’t say if it weighs 1 pound, 13 oz, and it isn’t skinny like she was, but the length and head size [...]

Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!

Posted by: Sarah on: July 8, 2005

Shoshanna has made THE BIG DISCOVERY. Yes, she’s realized that rolling on the floor can get her from point A to point B. Thankfully, she hasn’t pieced together that point B can be more than a 360-degree roll away from point A, but that’s really just a matter of time.
We had our last [...]

The paranoias of the 21st century parent…

Posted by: Sarah on: June 2, 2005

Ack! Shoshanna’s upstairs napping and I have NO BABY MONITOR TO LISTEN TO!!!
Why is there no baby monitor, you ask? The answer is simple:
It’s in a suitcase in the trunk of my car.
You see, this evening, Shoshanna is going on her first plane ride! We’re flying down to Maryland for the weekend [...]

Shoshanna’s To Do List

Posted by: Sarah on: May 11, 2005

We’ve realized that Shoshanna listens to what Nancy tells us at the end of each visit and makes herself a little “to do” list for the following weeks. At the end of Nancy’s visit a week ago, she told us to expect to see the following soon:

Using both hands to play
Reaching for toys held [...]

  • esta Wolfram: Oh I hope she won't think librarians are bad people. . . please tell her the library just needs to know where books are in case anyone asks to borrow
  • Jaybetee: Jason here from BloggersUnite. Thanks for being part of the BloggersUnite event, sharing your story and helping to raise awareness for the March of Di
  • Sadia: You make such a good point. My 33-weekers are more than "OK". Yes, they get lung infections from time to time, but they're ahead of the curve on all t
