We went out to dinner tonight, to a hibachi restaurant. Shoshanna was NOT a huge fan of the fire. However, when we asked her if she wanted chicken or salmon she picked the fish without hesitation, much to the surprise of the other folks seated at our table.
And she ate most of what they put [...]

As we were all getting ready this morning, Matthew and I heard Shoshanna start HOWLING in her room. We both ran in there and it was pretty clear that she had somehow smashed her left foot in the sliding door of her closet. We comforted her, gave it kisses, and so on. Went downstairs and [...]

We’ve apparently reached the point where Shoshanna’s desire to feed herself outweighs everything else at mealtimes. In part, this might be due to our having given her the first part of her course of antibiotics in a little bit of food – which put her off of anything we might offer her (as well [...]

Halfway through a course of antibiotics, Shoshanna is feeling much better; we saw the doctor yesterday and she said that her chest is completely silent and that her ear is looking much better. Hooray antibiotics! Of course, getting the antibiotics INTO her is a challenge. We’ve been putting it into some food, [...]

We’re once again doing the no prilosec experiment. We’ll see if it lasts longer than the last two did. I’m feeling pretty comfortable with the idea – she’s been largely asymptomatic on a very small dose (I don’t think her dose has been increased for at least 4 months) for quite a while. [...]

We’re halfway to “I like to eat… I like to eat… I like to eat, eat apples and bananas!” Since Shoshanna did fine with her rice cereal for a full week, we’ve moved on to more flavorful foods – pureed bananas! We tried some at dinnertime last night, but she was tired and [...]

Until recently, Shoshanna hasn’t gone through anything that I would have called a “phase.” Note the beginning of that sentence – until recently.
A couple of days ago, I started noticing that Shoshanna wouldn’t hold still while eating – she insisted on looking around the room. She also has figured out that she can [...]

More and more, Shoshanna is differentiating night and day. Right now, this means that she’s eating less in the evening & overnight (but still sleeping four hours at a time), but the frequency of her requesting food during the day has been increasing. Yesterday, we decided to increase her bottles to 120 cc’s each [...]

We’ve kind of figured out that when and if we get to do Kangaroo Care really depends on the nurse who’s working on any given day/evening. Susie is known as the “cuddle nurse” – when we got to the NICU, I wondered why there was a recliner at the foot of Shoshanna’s bed. You can [...]

Another boring (in a good way) NICU visit. Shoshanna spent the day doing baby things – in other words, eating, sleeping, and growing. It’s on Mondays that they measure them – she’s grown another inch (so she’s now 15″ long)! She also weighed in at 861 grams last night! All that eating is doing her [...]
